BSc HORTICULTURE

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), horticulture is defined as the branch of agriculture concerned with the cultivation of plants used for food, medicinal purposes, and aesthetic enjoyment, these plants include fruits, vegetables, ornamental plants, herbs, and nursery plants. This program aims to produce competent graduates capable of integrating horticultural components into diverse farming systems. It equips students with the skills to understand farmer's socio economic and environmental conditions and to provide appropriate, resource-based technical solutions. In response to the growing demand for sustainable and market oriented horticultural production, the program prepares graduates to work across the entire horticulture value chain from production and post harvest handling to marketing and export, thereby supporting food and nutrition security, income generation, and the development of both smallholder and commercial horticultural enterprises.
