Programme description

Architecture is both the art and science of designing and constructing buildings and physical structures that are functional, sustainable, and aesthetically meaningful. It balances technical precision, cultural expression, and environmental responsibility to create spaces that meet human needs, inspire communities, and positively transform the built environment. BSc in Architecture is a five years studio intensive degree program that blends creative design with technical knowledge and real world application. The program begins with foundational courses in visual communication, architectural graphics, freehand drawing, and building materials, establishing essential design and technical skills. As students progress, they engage in advanced design studios, computer aided design (CAD), history and theory of architecture, structural systems, environmental science, and building construction. The curriculum is centered on iterative design studios, where students repeatedly solve spatial, social, and technical challenges through hands on projects. Practical training and industrial placements provide early and continuous exposure to professional practice, strengthening student's understanding of construction processes, project management, and client engagement. Opportunities for specialization such as architectural conservation or Building Information Modeling (BIM) prepares students to tailor their expertise. The program culminates in a comprehensive design project and thesis that demonstrate readiness for professional practice. The program is highly relevant to national and global development priorities, including urbanization, sustainable housing, infrastructure development, climate responsive design, and cultural heritage preservation. Graduates are well prepared for architectural licensure and careers in architectural design, construction, urban planning, and the broader built environment industry.
