Programme description

This degree program prepares students to become multiskilled Laboratory Scientists and Technologists by building strong theoretical foundations in Chemistry, Biology, and Physics, while developing competence in essential laboratory techniques such as chromatography, Spectroscopy, and instrumental analysis. The program covers key areas including Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Ecology, and Environmental Impact and Risk Assessment, ensuring graduates are well prepared for biological and analytical laboratory roles. The program is highly relevant to the evolving demands of modern science and industry, particularly within the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Through courses such as Automation in the Laboratory and Instrumental Analytical Chemistry, students gain cutting edge technological skills in robotics assisted workflows, artificial intelligence applications, and automated spectrometry and chromatography systems. Courses in Analogue and Digital Electronics strengthen students' ability to design circuits and interface sensors with laboratory instruments, while Computational Physics and Electronics integrate Internet of Things (IoT) applications for smart laboratory and industrial systems. Emphasis is placed on hands on learning through extensive laboratory work, mandatory Industrial Practical Training (IPT), specialized courses such as Industrial Chemistry, Polymers, and Explosives, and a final year research project.
