Programme description
The Doctor of Medicine (MD) program is five years, ten semesters, competency based program that integrates foundational medical sciences with extensive clinical and community based training. Completion of the program is followed by a mandatory one year internship at an approved hospital to fulfill licensure requirements. The MD degree is essential for developing physicians who form the backbone of healthcare systems. The program addresses critical healthcare challenges, including physician shortages, disparities in access, and the rising burden of communicable and non communicable diseases. By combining rigorous scientific training with clinical and community experience, it cultivates skilled diagnosticians, compassionate healers, and proactive community health leaders. Graduates are equipped to treat illness, advocate for patients, innovate in practice, and tackle social determinants of health, thereby strengthening the quality, equity, and resilience of healthcare. The program is delivered in two phases: an initial phase emphasizing basic medical sciences with early clinical exposure, followed by a clinically intensive phase featuring clerkships and hands on training across core medical disciplines and selected specialties. Practical skills, research, and community-oriented care are emphasized throughout
