Programme description
BSc. Marine Science is a comprehensive and interdisciplinary degree program that integrates biological, chemical, geological, and physical oceanography with applied marine resource management, policy, and technology. Students study marine life and ecosystems (biological oceanography), seawater chemistry and nutrient cycles (chemical oceanography), seafloor structures and marine geology (geological oceanography), and ocean currents, waves, and climate interactions (physical oceanography). The program also emphasizes the practical management and sustainable use of marine resources, including fisheries, marine energy, coastal systems, and biodiversity conservation. It incorporates training in marine policy, environmental regulations, and modern technologies used in ocean monitoring and resource assessment. The program is highly relevant to national and global priorities such as the blue economy, climate change mitigation, coastal resource management, marine conservation, and sustainable fisheries development. Graduates are well equipped to contribute to marine research, environmental protection agencies, fisheries and coastal management authorities, maritime industries, policy development institutions, and organizations promoting sustainable ocean resource use.
